At the root of every kind of abuse lies ignorance. That’s why Dr. Myles Munroe said, “When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.”
Abuse means, the improper use or misuse of something. And purpose means, the original reason or intention for which something is created, done or exists. I defined those terms because I will like to reframe Dr. Myles’ quote. According to the definitions above, we can reframe the quote thus:
“When the original reason or intention for which a thing is created is not known, improper use or misuse of that thing is inevitable.”
To expect the world that does not know the Creator to know His intention for creation is to expect a day old baby to tell you the day he was conceived in the womb. That explains why everything is the way it is. People don’t know the Creator of all creations, so no way they could have known His intention for creating them and everything else, it is therefore no surprise everything is in disarray.
The success of a thing is to function according to design, anything outside of that is an abuse of purpose called, “Malfunctioning.”
The best way to relate with everything God created is to understand His intention for creating them. If you have ever been on a quest to knowing God intimately before, perhaps these questions would have crossed your mind before,
“Why did God create the earth and all other things in the universe? What was He thinking that made Him to create all things?
Just in case you have wondered in your heart and haven’t gotten the right answer yet, then pay attention to the following lines.
God’s intention for creation is in two folds. The first is God’s ULTIMATE INTENTION, the second is God’s UNIQUE INTENTIONS.
God’s Ultimate Intention is the Supreme reason for creating all things, generally. And His Unique Intention is the Specific and distinct purpose for each creation, individually. The first talks about General purpose, the latter talks about Personal purpose.
Rev. 4:11 clearly paints the picture in the Heart of God for creation.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
The angel first acknowledged the supremacy of God and declared that He is the Creator of all things, then he went further to affirm God’s original Intention for creation,
“….and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
I like the way NLT rendered it,
“It is for Your pleasure they EXIST, and WERE created.”
Here are a couple of other scriptures to establish my point,
Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.'” Is. 43:7
This says it all,
For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his GLORY. Rom. 11:36.
We can conclude through these verses read that, God’s ultimate intention for creation is to bring Him PLEASURE. He made all things for His own AMUSEMENT, to pleasure His heart through the display of His Glory.
I can remember what God once told m, “Help man live for Me! Tell them to stop chasing after things and chase after Me instead….. He said, “I made them so I can enjoy them!”
And while I was praying recently, immediately I mentioned glory, He interrupted me and said,
That’s the problem! The abuse of My glory. I am not amused anymore! I’m hungry and thirsty for amusement. And nothing amuses Me than My glory fully maximized.”
Before this time, He showed me a vision of a very wealthy man, and took me through all his possessions, then I saw the wealthy man looking at everything he owned from the house top with great excitement, he mused to himself, “These are all mine, I worked for them, see how elegant and magnificent they look.” Then I heard God say, “The wealth of a wealthy man can amuse him, the best comedian can thrill and amuse the heart of the most powerful king on earth. But no comedian, no matter how hilarious, can amuse Me…. The only thing that amuses Me is My Glory! The only thing that turns Me ‘on’ is My glory. The only thing that feeds my pride is my glory. And the same is the essence of creation.”
His Word says,
These people have I formed for myself, they shall show forth my praise – glory. Is.43:21
The entire creation is a narration of God’s glory, including you. Everything in nature is a displayed commentary and a vivid account of His glory shown by functioning according to unique designs or specific purposes. The entire creation therefore, is an exhibition of God’s glory, a grand parade of His splendor, and a loud display of His magnificence, all intended for His amusement.
God is supposed to look at you and get amused, He should see you and say to Himself, “Behold My Glory!” He made you and I, and all other things so He could take pride in our functionalities. We are not only His Glory-Containers, we are also His Glory-Dispensers. But the Fall of man disorganized and interrupted the plans of God,
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Rom. 3:23
Sin made man to fall out of God’s original intention for creating them, and that affected the whole creation at large,
Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God’s curse. Rom. 8:20
That means God cursed everything because of the sin of man, thereby making all things to exist below their intended glory. But that didn’t change God’s intentions and desire, though it affected His method. There is a measure of God’s glory Inherent in every creation, but what we lost was the Awareness and the Extent of the glory. No wonder God vowed,
“The earth shall be filled the KNOWLEDGE of the GLORY of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Hab. 2:14
And in another place, He said,
For the earth shall be filled with the KNOWLEDGE of the LORD.
