THE FATHER WHO IS ALWAYS THERE

THE FATHER WHO IS ALWAYS THERE

“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you.
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.”

Isaiah 43:1-2

The full awareness of the fatherhood of God, coupled with your personal absolute mental persuasion that you’re a child of God and loved by Him, is the greatest thing that could happen to you as a child of God.

Like I once heard, “Ignorance explains crisis,” most of the things we suffer as God’s children are based on the fact that we don’t know the heartbeats of God for us.

Anybody who understands the opening text will be in a state of rest that the enemy can do nothing about. I always get high on such Scriptures.

I met a young prophet during a retreat, I got so fascinated about God’s gift in this young and certainly anointed prophet of God. I engaged him in a conversation and we became friends eventually. After telling me a few things about himself, he asked to know more about me, too.

When I began to tell him a little about me and my experience with God, I couldn’t but dwell on the experiences that proved the faithfulness of God as my Father who is always there.

One of the fascinating things about my new friend is the fact that he obeyed God early! He is just 21years old, and started his ministry at the age of 17. Unlike me that I struggled with the calling for over 10 years before I eventually decided to focus on God. And I’m now in my thirties. So I was eager to encourage him with my testimonies.

I started with some of the reasons why it took me that long to obey, chief of which was lack of confidence that God could take care of me like He said He would. I was scared to face the PRICE of obedience, which might sometimes means no source of income, and could lead to not being able to pay my rent and probably also means no food to eat at some points. The though of this made it difficult for me obey. No wonder Christ said, “Take no though for your life…”

But when I began to understand the fatherhood of God, I realized I was missing out big time for not obeying. There was a day I had nothing to eat, and after a powerful revelation, I wanted to call a senior business associate for a raise, then God said to me through His Spirit, “Do you trust me?” And I responded, “Yes, I do.” Then He said, “Don’t call him, just trust me.” I obeyed and dropped my phone. But I decided to go and visit a friend early enough so I could eat breakfast with his family. On my way there, I saw a flyer on the ground and I picked it up, it was tagged “Jesus The Son Of God,” which caught my attention, then I heard God immediately after reading it, “That’s exactly what I desire from you, a Father-son relationship!”

Beloved, though I woke up that day with no money in my bank account, I slept with tens of thousands of naira in my account. When I got back home that day, somebody called for me to supply a product I wouldn’t need money to buy before supplying, that was how I got about times four of what I wanted to ask my business partner for. And he probably wouldn’t have given me anything. Talk about a Father who is always there, that’s God!

Around October 2017, after a national business tour, I decided to quit all form of money chasing ventures to pay full attention to my life assignment, after which I became very broke. I just walked away from a business that was paying some of my subordinates thousands of dollars a week, and I was privileged to be among the top 5 leaders in Africa. But I decided to face my life assignment and pay the price of obedience.

Throughout December of the same year, I doubt if I had up to 10 meals, and not because I was fasting, but simply because I had no food to eat. There was a whole week that I had nothing to eat at all except honey and water. As if that was not enough, my landlady called me and gave me just a week to vacate her property, and made life almost miserable for me, so I decided to pack out and move to a friend’s house, after concluding with him. But my friend came a night before the day I was to pack my things to his place and told me it wouldn’t be possible anymore because of his In-laws, which to me was a good reason. That left me with no other option because calling anyone else at that time would be kind of absurd, just a night before I was to move.

But all through this seemingly dull moment, to my own amazement, I had a level of joy and peace of mind like never before. I just knew God would show up, though I didn’t know how or when. Beloved, on the day I was to move out of the house, a call came in and I ended up being handed a key to a fully furnished house, only me in the entire house, without having to pay a dime. Now, imagine if the door to my friend’s house wasn’t closed, I wouldn’t have had a testimony like this to share about the faithfulness of God. That experience taught me how to thank God for closed doors.

The time came for me to leave that temporary accommodation, but I still had no place to go, because all my friend’s I approached had good excuses not to take me in. But I remained in good faith, not even a second of sadness, “For no one who looks up to Him will be put to shame.” My joy and peace levels were above the sky.

My immediate plan was to move to Lagos after a ministers’ conference at Canaanland, Ota, and spend a week with each of my comfortable millionaire friends, just to buy time till God shows up, because I was so sure He would prove His fatherhood, again. After I had spent some days in Lekki and some days in Magodo with my friends, I had to return to Ibadan for an important function. Friends, that was when God showed up and I ended up being given a key to another bungalow, all to myself! Talking about a Father who is always there, that’s who God is.

Here is another testimony I share with my new prophet friend. Few months ago, I woke up with no food to eat, and no money for transportation to a prayer meeting I would be having the next day. Then the devil came trying to mock me saying, “See your life! Now you have no food to eat again, and no money to even go for the meeting tomorrow. Shame on you!” Then I spoke back at the fool and reminded him of the birds in the air, how they don’t sow nor reap, or have any storehouse where they keep food, but yet they don’t starve because they are in my Father’s daily feeding budgets! If He could take care of them, He certainly would be mindful of me, His child. And I added, “Wait and see, My Father will soon show up, and if by tomorrow morning there still no money to go for the meeting, be sure that I would wake up early enough and walk down to the venue!”

Beloved, around 9am as I was studying the Word of God, I was feeling drowsing, then I decided to rest for awhile which I did. About 2hrs later, I was awoken by the vibration of my phone, an SMS notification, I got up to check the message, guess what? It was a bank credit alert! Tens of thousands of naira came in from someone I had not even spoken with for a long time. Just 2 days after that, the same amount was credited to my account by another person.

Not so long after that, a friend in the United States told me that her friend who didn’t even know me at all, asked for my account details, that God instructed her to bless me with her seed. Ha! What kind of God is this? I exclaimed! To cut short the long story, that period alone, hundreds of thousands of naira was credited to my account, with the honorarium from a Church I went to minister. The God-sent sister who sent the money from the States said she couldn’t sleep until she sent the money. God used her to prove His faithfulness and watered my life financially through her. You can’t imagine how watered the gardens of her life would be. The whole story will amaze you, but that’s for another time. But if you want to know a Father who is always there, that’s my God!

All along, my new friend sat there in awe and kept saying, ‘Jesus… Jesus… Jesus….’ After I finished, he said, “Sir! I must sow into this grace!” I laughed! Then I cautioned him, I explained to him that what he saw was no special grace, it was nothing but the fatherhood of God at work. This is nothing but the faithfulness of God which is the primary expression of His fatherhood. That can’t be sowed into, it is readily available to all of His children, you only need demonstrate that understanding through a life of faith in Him.

I also told him, after or while you are paying the price of obedience, God can give you the reward of obedience. This may be the reward of an ongoing obedience, but I call it ‘The expression of God’s fatherhood and faithfulness!’ The Bible says, “Faithful is He who has called you, who also will do it?”

That my friend came for a retreat with a view of God, but left with a changed and superior perspective of God, according to him. Like I told him, he came looking for the ACTs of God, but left chasing after the HEART of God. Some look for the ACTS, but mature sons go after the HEART.

Let’s read Isaiah 42:1-2 again,

“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you.
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.”

That’s a lot of assurance there, in which it is impossible for God to lie! The above was an old testament promise which is still valid today, Jesus Christ put it this way for a new testament believer, “Behold, I’m with you ALWAYS!”

Whatever the situation, this is what I’m certain of, Jesus is the ONLY Father who is ALWAYS there! You can trust Him.
